In Becker County, 60 miles of the North Country Scenic Trail wind through the back country for hiking. With more than 400 lakes, there is room for fishing, scuba diving, swimming, and tubing the river. How about hitting the links? Seven golf courses in the Detroit Lakes area offer 9 and 18 hole play.
Soothe your artistic side in Detroit Lakes. The Historic Holmes Theatre features live musical performances by national, international, and local artists. Go on a hunt for 30 four-foot decorated sunfish around Detroit Lakes, stopping to see the Once Upon a Time sculpture at the Carnegie Library along Washington Avenue. Free entertainment is a plus and featured each Tuesday evening in the summer at the City Park bandshell.
There's a multitude of dining options in and around Detroit Lakes as there are shopping. For more than 40 years, Shady Hollow Flea Market south of Detroit Lakes serves up summertime treasure hunting on weekends.
