What’s your mission?

Walking through life, you never truly realize the impact you make on one another. My mission is to take each day and make some kind of impact on each person I encounter, whether it’d be insignificant or life changing. We have to recognize that every interaction we have is an opportunity to make a positive impact on others.

If you could have a conversation with anyone - past or present - who would it be?

Frank Lloyd Wright. I’ve seen some of his work in person and wow. Just wow. I am completely mesmerized by his style of architecture. If I had the chance to have a conversation with him, I would try my best to pick his brain and better understand where the inspiration behind his art comes from.

Why Minnesota?

Well for starters, I was born and raised in a small town in Central Minnesota. So I didn’t have any choice against starting out here, but after graduating high school, I had no intentions of leaving. I love everything this state has to offer. 10,000 lakes. The Minnesota State Fair. Cross country skiing. The Minnesota Vikings. Locally brewed beer. The accent. And of course, our four glorious seasons.

What personality trait or skill do you consider your greatest asset?

My ability to say yes. Don’t get me wrong, I know how to say no, but I don’t say it often. Being completely open to new opportunities and tasks has opened many doors for me. My attention to detail also doesn’t hurt when it comes to being a graphic designer. (;

What tool, object, or ritual could you not live without?

A kiss from my husband in the morning, before we leave for work. As cheesy as it sounds, I just feel off the rest of the day if we don’t take the time to give each other a kiss in the morning.

What does success mean to you?

Success is all about following your passion, not a paycheck. If you’re happy when you go home at night, then you’ve succeeded.

In moments of self-doubt or adversity, how do you build yourself back up?

I go to my husband. As much as I hate it at times, he gives it to me straight. There’s no pat on the back saying it’ll be okay. No B.S. He just does a great job with getting me back on the horse.

What are you afraid of?

Sharks. Or the deep sea. I can probably blame it on watching WAY too many episodes of shark week, but something about being in the ocean and knowing that there are sharks and other creatures out there, somewhere, freaks me out.

What words of wisdom would you want to tell your younger self?

Don’t ever lose faith. Bad things happen that are out of our control and we’re constantly being thrown into situations we might not be ready for, but God has such a beautiful plan for each and everyone of us. Trust in that and don’t let anything or anyone hold you back. You control the way you let things affect you, so never stop learning and growing and live your best life.

What are you most proud of? Or what do you envision your legacy to be?

I’m most proud of the person I’m becoming. I don’t really know if there’s anything more rewarding than looking back and seeing how much you’ve grown and where you’re going.

What does the world need more of?

Pilot G2 pens. There’s nothing I appreciate more than a good pen and I never seem to have enough. Probably because people are always stealing them!

Favorite place in Minnesota? Why?

Siseebakwet. Aka, Sugar Lake. Aka, the most beautiful lake in the state. It’s where I’ve been calling home since the beginning of summer and it’s by far one of the clearest, cleanest lakes I’ve ever seen in my life. (Some even say that the lake provides healing powers! But honestly, there’s nothing better than going out at night, sitting on the dock, and just watching the sunset and listening to the loons.
